Art has a unique way of bringing people together. Whether it's a feeling they get or a memory it brings up. I think that is the most rewarding thing as an artist. if what I paint can spark a memory or feeling and bring in conversation and connection among people then I think I did a good job. Memories and nostalgia are very important to me. Its a way I process my present by reflecting my past, with movies I saw, music I listened to, help me remember things that happened while in the moment. I love painting Iconic figures from popular culture. I love the feeling that they give me when I think of where I was or who I wanted to be, or who it reminds me of. "Storm Trooper in the dunes" reminds me of my dad, who is a big stars wars fan. Star Wars is just one of those things that always brings me back to my childhood as it does for so many others!
